Mission Description                      

Job Purpose:
The Operations Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of the logistics operations team. This role involves ensuring efficient and timely movement of goods, managing team performance, and maintaining high standards of service quality.
Job Function:
• Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of operations staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
• Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, set expectations, and address any issues.
• Provide training and development opportunities to team members.
• Oversee daily logistics operations, including scheduling, routing, and tracking shipments.
• Ensure all shipments are processed accurately and efficiently.
• Monitor and manage workload distribution among team members to ensure optimal performance.
• Ensure that quote requests are handled in time and that feedback is given to customs and various stakeholders.
• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate team performance.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing and resolving any customer inquiries or issues promptly.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding shipment status and any potential delays.
• Ensure all logistics activities comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of necessary shipping and customs documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and files related to logistics operation
• Identify and resolve operational issues and challenges in a timely manner.
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless operations.

 

Profile

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent. A degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proficiency in Pegasus and Asycuda software systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
