Mission description

Job Purpose:
Oversee and manage the daily operations of the fleet and drivers, and ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Job Function:
Fleet Management:
• Monitor and manage the departments fleet of vehicles, ensuring all vehicles are always operational and in compliance with regulations.
• Coordinate regular maintenance and inspections on all vehicles in the fleet.
• Arrange repairs for vehicles when necessary.
• Keep records of all vehicle maintenance and repair activities to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage on-route breakdowns and follow procedure for roadside assistance to attend to the breakdown timeously.
• Monitor that tracking devices and panic buttons are checked daily and in line with the SOP.
• Complete vehicle Accident/Incident reports with relevant driver.
• Ensure all vehicles are presentable and clean.
• Monitor vehicle fines and follow AGL Traffic Fine procedures.
Driver Supervision:
• Supervise a team of drivers and drivers' assistants to ensure they are following company policies, safety procedures, legal requirements, and scheduled delivery routes.
• Provide training and development to drivers on safety protocols, driving techniques, and company policies.
• Monitor all daily vehicle inspections sheets / data.
• Conduct performance evaluations.
• Manage all leave applications and absenteeism.
• Ensure all PPE requirements are adhered to.
• Manage training and monitoring on the inTouch App procedure for all drivers.
• Manage and proof-check all clocking timesheets before Management approval.
• Liaise with labour brokers where necessary.
• Allocate drivers to relevant vehicles depending on client delivery requirements.
• Liaise with the departments Transport Coordinators on driver and vehicle delivery requirements.

 

Profile

Logistics & Route Planning:
• Plan and optimize vehicle routes to ensure timely delivery of goods or services, minimizing fuel costs and time.
• Track vehicle usage, ensuring that the fleet is being used efficiently and effectively.
• Handle scheduling and ensure that the right vehicles are assigned to meet customer needs.
• Monitor vehicle routing and tracking on Carlo System.
Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure that vehicles comply with safety regulations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on vehicles and drivers.
• Maintain accurate driver and vehicle records in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
• Matric
• Minimum 3 years relevant working experience. Proven supervisory experience of managing drivers and fleet.
• Valid driver's licence and PDP license.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to analyse data and generate reports
• Strong problem-solving skills
