Mission description

Job Purpose
To proactively plan and allocate the AGL Namibia truck fleet on a daily basis to maximise utilisation, efficiency, and yield. The role involves close coordination with customers and internal teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective transport solutions while ensuring smooth fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Control & Planning
• Plan and allocate vehicles daily to ensure optimal fleet utilisation and on-time execution.
• Monitor loading and offloading points and follow up to minimise delays and standing time.
• Coordinate and follow up on breakdowns in collaboration with operations and the workshop.
• Identify and correct unplanned truck-trailer combinations.
• Reconcile planned trips against fleet availability and resolve unallocated or uncreated trips.
Customer & Operations Coordination
• Maintain daily contact with customers to understand transport needs and manage bookings.
• Capture and confirm bookings in the TMS, ensuring all mandatory data and supporting documents are recorded.
• Prepare quotations based on trip costs, market conditions, and yield principles.
• Handover bookings and loading instructions to operations, including cargo details, special requirements (OBE, HZD), and cut-off times.
• Compile and share daily loading plans, adjusting priorities as required and communicating changes.
• Support operations with execution challenges, customer queries, and invoicing issues.
• Analyse trip profitability and contribute to rate reviews and customer portfolio optimisation.
• Provide daily fleet allocation, utilisation, and rate updates to management.
Performance, Process & Reporting
• Monitor key fleet KPIs such as utilisation, on-time delivery, and standing time.
• Maintain dashboards and reports to track overall fleet performance.
• Identify process inefficiencies and support the implementation of improved fleet and operational processes.
Security & QHSE
• Support fleet security measures to protect drivers, vehicles, and cargo.
• Coordinate with security service providers when enhanced security or escorts are required.
• Follow up on incidents and accidents and assist with required reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all QHSE policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Profile

• Matric
• A thorough knowledge of local and cross border transport and logistics
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and client liaison skills
• Advanced Computer Skills
• A Logistics/Transport or any relevant qualification
• Minimum 3-years' experience in a similar environment
