Mission Description                      

JOB ADVERT: WORKSHOP MANAGER
Location: Plot M-611, Ntinda Road, Kampala
Reports to: Transport Manager

Are you a driven, hands-on leader ready to take charge of a dynamic transport workshop? Join our team at Africa Global Logistics Uganda as a Workshop Manager and be at the heart of our fleet operations. You'll oversee administration, preventive maintenance, procurement, and ensure maximum asset utilization—driving operational excellence while keeping cost and downtime to a minimum.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure timely preventive maintenance and repairs to reduce equipment downtime
2. Lead workshop administration and ensure effective use of management tools (e.g. MAXIMO)
3. Maintain accurate stock control—targeting zero variance
4. Manage procurement processes, both local and international, with a focus on cost efficiency
5. Generate timely, insightful workshop performance reports
6. Provide operational support and advice to the Transport Manager and wider team
7. Supervise petty cash, LPOs, and enforce strong cost control measures
Maintain high QHSE and housekeeping standards in the workshop

 

Profile


Qualifications & Experience Required:
✔ Minimum 5 years of experience in a workshop/automotive or related industry
✔ Training in Mechanical or Engineering fields is a strong advantage
✔ Strong understanding of workshop systems and spare parts management
✔ Computer literate and fluent in English
✔ Proven leadership and team management experience
✔ Familiarity with URA Customs procedures and fleet management software (ideally Telematix)
✔ Experience handling a fleet of 20+ trucks is essential
