Mission Description                      

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clearing and Forwarding Manager to lead our logistics team in delivering top-notch service to our clients while maximizing operational efficiency. This role requires a natural leader who can drive performance, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key responsibilities encompass:
• Sea freight Import: Streamline import processes to ensure timely and compliant entry of goods.
• Sea freight Export: Optimize export operations to meet customer expectations while adhering to regulations.
• Airfreight: Manage air freight services for expedited shipments, focusing on cost efficiency.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Development:
• Directly manage a team of N-1, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.
• Set and communicate clear performance goals focused on quality service and cost control.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and provide feedback to develop team competencies.
• Collaborate with HR to create an effective induction program for newcomers and oversee leave management.
• Facilitate recruitment processes, including interviewing and selecting potential staff in coordination with HR and COO

2. Process Optimization:
• Continuously review and adapt the Clearing and Forwarding organization to ensure a balanced skill set across COM units, seeking COO validation as needed.
• Develop and define Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with the QHSE department, ensuring regular updates and compliance.
• Organize quality reviews with operations, supporting QHSE in implementing validated recommendations.
3. Client Portfolio Management:
• Proactively assess the client portfolio across departments, focusing on service quality and profitability.
• Ensure adherence to quotation conditions and protect potential business opportunities with existing clients.
4. Client Relationship Management:
• Establish and validate the general tariff grid with the COO to ensure competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with the Sales department to support quotations and client presentations, including involvement in the credit control committee.
• Oversee cash client validation in business software and resolve any operational issues to maintain client satisfaction.
5. Quality and Profitability Monitoring:
• Take responsibility for meeting budget goals across departments, focusing on gross margin, costs, and quality of service.
• Review disbursements regularly and actively participate in the disbursement control committee to address anomalies.
6. Subcontractor Management:
• Manage operational relationships with selected subcontractors, monitoring service quality and workload balance.
• Provide feedback to COO on subcontractor performance and address any service deficiencies.
7. Risk Management & Reporting:
• Implement controls for potential operational risks.

 

Profile

Personal Qualities Required:
• Highly organized with strong leadership capabilities.

• Strong problem-solver with technical curiosity.
• Proven ability to unify a team towards common objectives.
Required Skills:
• University Degree in Logistics, Business Administration or Procurement
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in clearing and forwarding, with 5+ years in a managerial role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and adaptable to new systems; experience with logistics software preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
